How to find us
By plane
Dresden Airport (which is between 45 minutes and an hour away from us) has direct services to several European destinations, including Paris, Zurich, Geneva and Vienna and multiple daily services from Germany’s international hubs, including Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt.
Leipzig/Altenburg Airport (which is one and a half hours from us by car, mainly on the motorway) is served by Ryainair (to/from London Stansted) daily. Very reasonable car hire rates can be had. EasyJet services come into Berlin and Prague, those airports respectively (and approximately) two and a half and one and a half hours away from us by car. From Leipzig, ead for the A4 motorway, torwards Dresden. From there, pick up the route described below (junction Dresden-West and than follow the A17 torwards Prague).
By car
From Dresden: as you approach Dresden by motorway, head for junction Dresden-West and drive onto to the A17 motorway, direction Prague. From the A17, take the exit to “Pirna” and follow the signs for the B172 to Bad Schandau/Decin. Follow the B172 all the way to the edge of Bad Schandau (between 20 and 30 minutes depending on conditions at the time). Just before you cross the bridge over the River Elbe, turn right (follow the signs to “Krippen”). Follow that road to Krippen, drive through the pretty village until you reach the Hotel Grundmuehle (on the left-hand side of the road just as the road bends to the left). Take a right turn, following the signs to Kleinhennersdorf (a part of Gohrisch). Drive up the hill. At the very top, you will pass a signe welcoming you to Kleinhennersdorf. Beyond that, take the first turning on your right (a road sign will say “Neue Bauerngasse”). Follow that narrow lane, and keep to the right when the route splits in two some 50 metres from the main road. You will then drive past fields on your right and a few detached houses with large gardens on your left. Some 200 metres on you will a large ochre/yellow-coloured house. That’s No. 38, the Haus of Lords. Parking is to the side of the house down the driveway.
By train
From Dresden airport you may take the regional train No S2 towards Dresden centre (Hauptbahnhof) and change there to No S1 (heading to Schöna). Alight at Bad Schandau station and take a taxi to our house. Much quicker, though slightly more expensive, is the Eurocity-Express, which goes through Dresden and Bad Schandau on the way to Prague. Alight at Bad Schandau station and take a taxi to the Haus. Further Information and train schedules can be found at the Deutsche Bahn website (www.db.de).
Safe journey!
